Iridology

Iridology is a safe non-invasive assessment tool. It is the science and practice of analysing the iris, the most complex external tissue structure of the human anatomy, using a specialised iridology camera. The iris reveals body constitution, inherent weaknesses, levels of health and the changes occurring in one's body according to one's lifestyle. The eyes have been proclaimed as the window of the soul, however it is now acknowledged that they are a mirror of the body. The iris is connected to every organ and tissue of the body by way of the brain and nervous system. The iris records changes in the
body's tissues as nerve fibres in the iris receive and register impulses from elsewhere in the body. These changes are signalled by different markings and and changes in texture or shape in the iris.

Iridology most probably originated from ancient medicine: there are records of eye depictions on ancient ruins, while Egyptian hieroglyphs depict healers peering into the eyes of patients. In Asian and Chinese medicine the practice of looking into people's eyes to reveal the body's health condition, to determine activities in the body goes back at least 5000 years. There are also records that Hippocrates used the eye for health assessments. In the early 1800's a young Hungarian boy, Ignatz von Peczely noticed changes in the iris markings of an owl after it's leg had been broken and healed. He went on to become a physician and observed patients irides before and after accidents and surgery. He noted that there was a reflex relationship between the various markings in the iris and the rest of the body. He created the first chart of the iris based on his findings. Around the same time a Swedish man, Nils Lijequist discovered a relationship between drug settlements and specific discolorations in the iris of the eye. Since then numerous scentists and medical doctors have researched iridology, revising and adapting the iris chart. Dr. Jensen was a pioneer of iridology. Research still continues today.

Knowing one's constitution can help guard against possible health threats in the future, and help to understand the unique qualities and needs of one's physical and psychological makeup. Iridology can help reveal imbalances in organs and body systems. This along with the comprehensive health assessment in the consultation will help form the basis of an individual, holistic and complementary health plan.
